Latest News
- 06/2026 – The iPower3Es has one of the best showings at the 2026 VLSI conference with two paper publications:
- Zhiwen and Hieu lead the first work, “C2.4 – A 48V-5V Coupled-Inductor Middle-Switched-Capacitor Hybrid GaN Converter Achieving #156uH Equivalent Inductance and 30mA Ripple”, that explores the new “middle-SC” topology of our hybrid converter series, offering massive ripple reduction for noise-sensitive applications. Congratulations to Zhiwen, Hieu, and the collaborators at EPC – Efficient Power Conversion and Samsung Research America (SRA).
- For the second work, “JFS6.3 – A 300mm Monolithic GaN MOSHEMT and Si pMOS Technology Demonstrating Energy-Efficient Multi-Thousand-Gate Digital Logic for Power Management,” Po-Han and Saket led us to a huge privilege of collaborating with (and learning from) the incredible teams at Intel, the Intel Foundry, demonstrating a first-of-its-kind, record-setting monolithic integration of standard-cell-based digital control logic combining GaN nMOS and Silicon (Si) pMOS technologies on a single 300mm wafer.
- 06/2026 – We had a blast at SquarenaCA. – Highly recommended for team building!
- 06/2026 – Hieu successfully defends his Ph.D. work with his super comprehensive work to improve 5G/6G transmitters’ efficiencies with digital envelop tracking (DET) supply modulators and the moto “We are proud to take the RISK”.
- Congratulation, Hieu!
- You can see the photos for Hieu’s graduation party and ceremony.
- 06/2026 – Prithvi successfully passed the prelim exam and will officially start her Ph.D. journey in the iPower3Es from Sept. 2026. Congratulations, Prithvi!!
- 05/2026 – Angie David joins the iPower3Es group with as a UCSD STARS program fellow. – Welcome Angie!
Welcome to iPower3Es
Research Mission

Our research mission is to address challenges in co-optimizing efficiency and size with performance in different electronic systems and applications, including:
- High-performance computing and data centers
- Mobile and automotive devices
- Robots: futuristic ones
- Communication systems
- DC-houses and DC-buildings
- Low-power biomedical implants
- Internet of Things (IoTs)
Team

We are always looking for good team members. Outstanding and self-motivated students interested in joining the iPower3Es group are recommended to contact Prof. Le directly.
Our team combines individuals who love what we are doing for future energy-efficient electronics systems. We strongly support diversity in our group, department, and school where creativity is fostered together with a strong work ethic. And also very importantly, we have fun.
